Top Democrats are planning to attend an event in Portland next month which will celebrate the homosexual rights movement. Although the nation is in the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression, the Democratic Party is in a festive mood. To help celebrate the recent victory in the battle over the definition of marriage, the Democratic Party of Maine has invited Congressman Barney Frank, who played a key role in the 2008 financial collapse. Congressman Frank was reprimanded by Congress in 1989 for a scandal in which a homosexual prostitution ring was being run out of his apartment. In yet another scandal, Frank received $40,000 from Fannie Mae, while his homosexual 'spouse' was a top executive at the mortgage lender.
Incredibly, another name listed on the flyer for the Democrat event is Attorney General Janet Mills, the top law enforcement official in the state. Mills is listed as a "Host" of the event along with the STYXX Video Club, which is associated with the STYXX gay bar in Portland.
Other prominent Maine Democrats who will attend the event are as follows: Trish Riley, Director of the Maine Governor's Office of Health Policy and Finance, and the driving force behind DIRIGO health insurance; Senator Dennis Damon, who introduced the same sex marriage bill in January; Senator Larry Bliss, a former homosexual rights activist who helped railroad the same sex marriage bill through the Maine Legislature; Shenna Bellows, Director of the Maine Civil Liberties Union; former State Senator Ethan Strimling; Representative Don Pilon; and United States Congresswoman Chellie Pingree.
Commenting on the upcoming event, Executive Director of the Maine Family Policy Council, Michael S. Heath said, "It is astonishing how much power and money are behind the homosexual rights movement. With all their resources, they still haven't been able to move public opinion much. A great majority of voters are still solidly behind the definition of marriage as between one man and one woman."
One remarkable fact to come out of the recent debate over same sex marriage is that there is little animosity directed to the other figures on the pro-family side. Judging from the coverage in the mass media, Mike Heath is the only figure the other side still detests and fears, in part because he has consistently defeated the homosexual rights lobby at the polls, and because he has a strong understanding of the radical ideology behind the movement.
One of the people coordinating the upcoming Maine Democratic Party - Southern Maine Pride is Ricky Redmond. Last year, in an effort to mock Heath, Redmond attended a Halloween Party dressed as Christ, wearing a crown of thorns and a banner which read "The Christian Civic League of Maine." The photo below shows Redmond at that event.
