The MFPC is happy to announce that Paulie Heath, wife of the Executive Director of the MFPC, Mike Heath, has been chosen to sing the National Anthem at the start of the July 4th Tea Party rally in Augusta.
Paulie, as many of our readers know, is an accomplished and popular singer of contemporary Christian music, with her own website.
The rally tomorrow will be the second Tea Party rally in Augusta, the first being on Tax Day in April. Several hundred patriotic and enthusiastic Mainers attended that first event.
The Tea Party rallies were originally spontaneous events organized locally across the nation to protest the costly stimulus package passed by Congress in the wake of the subprime mortgage crisis, and the general mismanagement of the economy by the Obama administration.
The rallies are often called "tax protests," but they are really rallies of ordinary patriotic Americans who are looking to put America back on the right course. The patriotic imagery used at the rallies dates back to colonial days and the American Revolution, and includes colorful flags and banners, and traditional American music.
We hope all our friends and supporters share in our joy that Paulie was selected to sing our National Anthem at this very important event.
The 'Taxed Enough Already' Tea Party will be held in Capitol Park in Augusta from 2 pm - 7 pm on July 4th.
